ABBARCH Architecture Inc: New Staff Appointments

ABBARCH Architecture Inc is pleased to announce the appointment of three new Associate Principals, as well as newly appointed Associates. New Associate Principals include Sally Emmerson, and Daryl Hutchison in Vancouver, and Robert Smith in Toronto. New Associates include Martin Pykalo in Vancouver, along with Steven Petridis, Jack Price, and Mehdi Rassaf in Toronto.
Associate Principals:
Sally Emmerson, RID, IDC, FRSA, Associate Principal - Vancouver Office
Sally is young to the firm having only been with ABBARCH since 2009. Sally continues to be a strong and
influential leader of the firm's Interior Design Division. With over 30 years of experience, Sally is
well versed in various industry sectors such as institutional, education, retail, commercial and healthcare.
Her innovative concepts and meticulous attention to detail have been demonstrated countless times with her
dedication and successful completion of extensive design projects.
Daryl Hutchison, AScT, Associate Principal - Vancouver Office
Daryl is a registered building technologist with over 15 years of experience. He has provided production
and project management services on various project types and sizes, with a focus on renovation projects
from the design development stage right through contract administration phase to completion. Daryl has
been with ABBARCH for 10 years and continues to bring a positive and energetic dynamic to the firm.
He has an extensive project portfolio which encompasses several industry sectors such as retail, commercial, institutional, industrial and multi-family and single family residential design.
Robert Smith, OAA, MRAIC, Associate Principal - Toronto Office
A key member of the team in the Toronto office, Robert has practiced architecture for more than 20 years
in Ontario, British Columbia, Pennsylvania and New York State. His projects include college and university
buildings, schools, churches, residential buildings and retail commercial buildings. Robert joined the
Toronto office of ABBARCH in 2004 and has managed the construction of numerous projects in Ontario,
Saskatchewan and Alberta.
Associates:
Martin Pykalo, MRAIC, BArch, LEED® AP, Associate - Vancouver Office
Martin is a project designer and design team leader within the firm. He graduated from the University of
Toronto in 1997, and has since worked in the UK, Ontario and British Columbia. He has extensive complex
programming experience and a strong, stylistically diverse, design portfolio. Martin is a LEED®
Accredited Professional, and is dedicated to sustainable design and green building practices. His primary
role in the firm is as project designer; he is also one of the key members involved in developing ABBARCH'S
expertise in sustainable design.
Jack Price, B. Tech (Arch), Dipl. Arch. Tech, Associate -Toronto Office
Jack has over 10 years experience with a broad range of projects in various industry sectors such as
institutional, residential, with a primary focus on retail and commercial projects, including a strong back
ground in project management, contract administration and construction review. Prior to his arrival at ABBARCH,
he was involved in various design and contract administration facets for the major redevelopment of Dundas
Square in downtown Toronto. Since joining ABBARCH'S Toronto office in 2006, he has managed various retail
expansions and renovations through out Canada.
Mehdi Rassaf, M.Arch., OAA, MRAIC, Associate - Toronto Office
A broad range of project experience in retail, commercial, institutional, recreational, and residential projects,
Mehdi has a strong focus on project management, contract administration, and the review of construction documents.
Overseeing projects from design through to completion, Mehdi brings a wealth of experience to ABBARCH.
Steve Petridis, BES - Toronto Office
After graduating from the University of Waterloo, Steve worked in the fields of multidisciplinary design, computer
programming and teaching in North America and Europe.
Steve joined the firm in 2006 to oversee the development and maintenance of office standards. His diverse background, eye for detail and understanding of the industry have allowed him to become involved in all aspects of the company's operations. Currently, he is responsible for project management, managing information technology systems at the Toronto office, and staff training.
